This year, the state council increased the C.O.A.L. ticket requirements by 50%. This requirement decides eligibility for state council scholarships for members’ children attending Catholic school. The increase made it impossible for Council 7403 to remain eligible, as it had been for many years.
However, Council 7403 has created the Tom Hathaway Memorial Scholarship for our members’ children or grandchildren. The scholarship is $500 to the student who is in grade 9-12 (does NOT have to be a Catholic school), who writes the best 200-500 word essay about, “What do the 10 commandments mean to you and how do you live according to them?”
No due date has been set because we want to see the response, but essays should be turned in as soon as possible.
